Water Sustainability, Vegetable Gardens, & Health


Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, SD.  We partnered with Eagle Rock Christian Center on a Pilot Program to promote sustainability and healthy eating.  We assessed, designed, prepared, and planted vegetable gardens at eight homes.  We provided education on water sustainability.

We partnered with a team trained by Iris Global that is working in northern Mexico.  We provided them with a trailer and approximately 800 of the BPA-free plastic bottles.  The water containers are 6, 5, and 3 gallons in size.  The trailer was used to transport and distribute the bottles which were initially filled with …

UPDATED 04-23-12 Rain Down The Harvest volunteers participated in the Earth Day Fair at Joseph Sears School. Our exhibit centered on The Water Cycle. Water conservation and stormwater management practices were presented. Sustainable solutions to these issues, such as Rainwater Harvesting and Rain Gardens, were explained.
